- Noted : MMA and kickboxing are legitimate competitive sports, distinct from Muay Thai in terms of rules and traditions. For instance, there is no Wai Kru ritual or traditional fight music before the bout. MMA permits grappling, while kickboxing prohibits the use of elbows.
